By 1951 all “American” Peter Witt’s were allocated to three of the then existing depots in Leningrad. There was a brief experiment in the post war years of using this type in train service of 2 motorcars and two trailers. After the war the remainder of the St. Petersburg fleet, kept serving the city till the early 1979.
The cars were very dependable and much liked by the operators and public. It is sad to note that, even with a long operating life few photographs were taken. It was not easy to carry a camera and shot pictures in the Soviet Union in those times.
